Back from home

No one seemed happy. It wasnt something specific; it wasn't the unsatisfaction of not getting a raise this year or not getting the extra holidays. its was like nothing had changed except that the facade that we were all living behind had come tumbling down. The masks were uncovered and the truth revealed. We were outted. Exposed for what we were really. everyone knew that this was going on. but suddenly the world knew and we could talk about it openly.  People have always been not getting paid, people have always been getting laid off, people have always been in debt. All of this is not new. It's the opposite of trickle down theory. Now its just bursted at the seems and has exploded and everyone is looking for a way out.
But its still there. It's ability to make you laugh out loud, to hug you, to feel, to weep and to love. To make you want the company of others, to feel connected to one another because we are humane. And we feel. in all of its misery it is still the most beautiful land on earth. The most passionates of hearts and the most giving souls who respect nothing more than their pride as a people. It's on the verge of dying. It's a slow death. And its most brilliant lights are burning out and leaving, its smartest and its most promising children dont see a future there. And the native crooks and the thieves, along with the tired the desperate and starving bodies from the east are left behind. This was not the humble Athens, the modest city i grew to love. Their was something hopeful yet, in the misery of the truth. It was silent. But it was there.
